This edition of the Norwalk Resource Directory contains updated information on a wide range of resources, from those meeting critical human needs for emergency help, shelter, food and clothing, to those supporting the health and well being of children, families and individuals of all ages. The directory includes Norwalk area services, civic and government listings and selected frequently sought national resources. We hope the directory will help Norwalk families and providers find needed services

The Norwalk Resource Directory is the result of a collaborative effort launched in 1998 when the Norwalk Healthy Families Collaborative developed the Resource Guide for Expectant Parents. In 2000, we expanded that directory into the Norwalk Resource Directory, a guide to services for all ages, in response to requests from the community.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: We are grateful to the City of Norwalk and the Information Technology Department for hosting and sustaining the Directory on the City website for eight years. Special thanks to Frank Sarno and Joyce Liu for their expert help in maintaining the database.

We also want to thank the many funding and community partners who have supported the directory work over the past 14 years: The March of Dimes; the United Ways of Tri-State, Norwalk & Wilton and Coastal Fairfield County; Fairfield County Community Foundation; William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund; the former 2-1-1 Infoline SW Region Office Liaisons Eileen-Lopez Cordone and Shari-Konn Andrade; Norwalk Community College Ventures Lab and Mary Peniston, former Executive Assistant to the Norwalk Superintendent of Schools; George Hensinger, for his tireless help with creating the first database; partners in the Norwalk Early Childhood Council, Norwalk Healthy Families Collaborative and the numerous agencies who share information for the benefit of the community.

We appreciate the vision proposed by Darlene Young of the Mayor's Office and Norwalk Promise of an enhanced Norwalk Resource Directory website linked to the new After School & Beyond Directory. We are especially grateful to the Norwalk Early Childhood Council, the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund for supporting this effort and to Norwalk 2.0 for redesigning the directory database and developing the new website. It is now possible for agencies to securely update their own information on line as needed, thereby keeping the database and PDF version current.
