OFFICE OF THE CHILD ADVOCATE

Description

The Office of Child Advocate speaks for Connecticut's Children. It is an independent voice for children. In this capacity, the OCA is not an administrator of programs; rather, the mission of the OCA is to oversee the care and protection of Connecticut's Children and to advocate for their well-being. OCA is committed to ensuring that all children receive the care and support they need. OCA helps families by educating and informing them about services for children, coaching them through various public systems, reviewing individual cases, advocating for children at risk and addressing broad public issues. Often, OCA facilitates change by bringing different agencies together to find creative solutions to difficult problems. OCA ensures the child welfare system is working to protect children. OCA refers many callers to local, public and private agencies that may be of direct assistance to them
