GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER SUMMER DAY CAMP

Description

Carver Center operates one of the most affordable summer camps in Norwalk which is licensed by CT Department of Public Health. The Summer Enrichment Program provides academic, recreational, social and cultural programming to low and moderate income youth. Summer day camp will run for six weeks. All children receive free breakfast and lunch. There is a focus on project based activities which provides meaningful engagement for our youth.

The program known as C.A.M.P - Computer Academic Motivational Program focuses on 5th graders who are making the transition to the 6th grade. The focus is on CMT, technology and academic study. Carver wants kids to learn test taking skills through C.M.T. (CT Mastery Tests) prep classes and to gain computer skills. The program is supervised by a certified teacher. Two groups of ten students alternate their time between the technology program and the academic program. Educational trips are planned to support learning.

Up to 20 students are enrolled in this program on a first come/first serve basis and participation is based on the number of 5th graders enrolled in our Summer Enrichment Program.
