HEALTH PROMOTION/RISK REDUCTION PROGRAMS - NORWALK HEALTH DEPT.

Description

This section of the Health Department designs, implements and evaluates community-wide health promotion projects in collaboration with local community-based agencies to improve the health and wellness of area residents. These projects can include the development of health education information, presentations at health fairs and community events, and specific programs to help members of the community stay safe, adopt healthy lifestyles, and prevent disease. Two major projects include our Become a NorWALKER program, a cardiovascular health project designed to increase physical activity and nutrition awareness in Norwalk residents and Fit Kids, a program designed for the aftershool setting to teach elementary school children about nutrition and phsyical activity.
