The Mission of The Fairfield County Women's Center (FCWC) at Norwalk Community College is to promote the advancement of women through educational programs and resources and to increase awareness of womenís issues in the community, workplace, and home. The goals of the Fairfield County Women's Center are to foster a supportive environment that promotes empowerment, equity, and self actualization. The Fairfield County Women's Center is a central clearinghouse for information about and for women of Fairfield County. We provide information and referrals to most human service agencies in Fairfield County.
Programs: FCWC creates programming for presentation, panel discussions, conferences and documentary films as well as guest speakers for class discussions throughout the academic year. Topics are selected and developed each semester with faculty members committed to examining women's perspectives within each discipline. A sampling of topics includes Women in Non-Traditional Careers, Entrepreneurial Endeavors, Job Readiness Skills, IPV and Nursing Care, Understanding Gender Stereotypes, Money Basics, Cancer Prevention, Creating Healthier Relationships, Safe & Single, and Identifying Domestic Violence.
Free Walk-In Information Sessions Monthly informal meetings with representatives from local agencies to talk about issues important to you - job readiness, credit information, relationships, sexual health, dating etc.
Women's Club For NCC students - Organizes events and creates programs that encourage and uplift women. The club holds meetings on the first Monday of every month and sponsors events throughout the year. Please call 203/857-6941 in advance to confirm time and location of each event.
