Buiding Futures through Mentoring (BFTM) provides youth with an adult mento who can meet them for at least one hour each week at a supervised location such as the YMCA, a church or school. The mentor's job is to help the young person define and achieve goals, encourage positive development and promote positive choice and increase self-esteem. The BFTM also provides mentors and mentees with a free membership to the YMCA so they can meet after school or on the weekends and engage in further fun activities. A partnership between the City of Norwalk, Serving All Vessels Equally (S.A.V.E), the Norwalk Mentor Program, Family & Children's Agency and the YMCA.
